ATLANTA, March 30 (UPI) -- A former teacher appeared to be enjoying a dance act in which male students allegedly grabbed girls and simulated sex, officials in DeKalb County, Ga., said.
Nathan Grigsby, a former Southwest DeKalb High School chorus teacher, is on trial in State Court for five counts of deprivation of a minor, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday.
A video shown to jurors Monday appeared to show Grigsby laughing as he watched three male students strip, fondle girls and simulate sex acts in his classroom, prosecutor Robert James said.
"He leans over and smiles and laughs," James said, referring to Grigsby, who was fired for allegedly letting his students put on what prosecutors called a "Chippendales-style revue" in December 2008.
Grigsby was helping another student and tried to stop the act when he became aware of it, his lawyer, Jackie Patterson, said.
The three male dancers in the video, now age 19, were charged with public indecency and disrupting a public school.
