PHILADELPHIA, March 30 (UPI) -- An Indian man has admitted defrauding three women he met on a dating Web site catering to Indian-Americans, federal investigators say.
Documents filed this week in U.S. District Court say that Jaitass Dhanoa, 33, signed a confession after questioning by Philadelphia police, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. He was arrested last week under the name Jay D. Singh.
Dhanoa allegedly met his victims online, claiming to be employed by a financial firm and a frequent traveler. Investigators say he moved in with all three women and the relationships ended when they discovered he had applied for multiple credit cards in their names and run up thousands of dollars in bills.
He was arrested after one woman, identified only as M.P., arranged a date with him at a bar in Rittenhouse Square last week and brought police with her. M.P. said Dhanoa ran up $12,000 on credit cards he applied for without her knowledge, in one case paying for airline tickets from the United States to London and then on to New Delhi with some duty-free shopping at Heathrow en route.
