Thieves stage daring Pucci heist

NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) -- Thieves dressed head-to-toe in black escaped with $100,000 worth of colorful goods from the Pucci store on New York's Fifth Avenue, police said.

Security videos showed at least three thieves smashing a glass door to enter the front of the store, near Trump Tower, before dawn Tuesday, The New York Post reported Wednesday.

It took the thieves just two minutes to jam expensive dresses, purses, shoes, sunglasses and scarves into a large plastic bag and flee.

The burglary triggered an alarm system, but the burglars were gone by the time police arrived.

The thieves targeted a 10-foot by 12-foot area in the front and ignored the bulk of the store's high-end products further back, store officials said.

The stolen goods were worth from $34,000 to $40,000 wholesale and an estimated $100,000 retail, police said.
