WASHINGTON, March 21 (UPI) -- House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, urged House Republicans not to taunt Democrats after the House votes Sunday on healthcare reform, lawmakers said.

Citing several lawmakers who attended a 15-minute closed-door meeting of House Republicans, The Hill reported Boehner told members to "behave like grown-ups" if the House passed the bill.

The lawmakers said Boehner urged Republicans to avoid a repeat of what happened in November when the House approved healthcare reform legislation and some GOP members taunted Democrats seen as politically vulnerable for supporting the bill.

GOP leaders at the Sunday conference meeting said it was likely Democrats in the House will applaud if the bill passes, and they don't want Republicans to react the way they did in November when they started singing "Nah-nah-nah-nah hey, hey, hey good-bye."

Rep. John Campbell, R-Calif., said the reform bill "is the beginning of the end of America," so directing taunts at Democrats would not be appropriate, The Hill reported.
