WASHINGTON, March 19 (UPI) -- The White House says U.S. President Barack Obama will host a state dinner for visiting Mexican President Felipe Calderon in May.
The Reliable Source blog in The Washington Post reported Friday the May 19 state dinner will represent the first state dinner held by the White House for Mexico since 2001, when U.S. President George W. Bush hosted Mexican President Vicente Fox.
Specific details regarding the 2010 state dinner were not released by the office of first lady Michelle Obama to date.
News of the May 19 event comes a month after Michelle Obama and Mexican first lady Margarita Zavala de Calderon met in the White House.
Michelle Obama is scheduled to make a solo visit to Mexico City April 13-15, The Reliable Source blog said.
The Washington Post blog said Barack and Michelle Obama are also scheduled to host Nicolas Sarkozy when the French president and his wife, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, visit the United States later this month.
