Kissinger released from Seoul hospital

SEOUL, March 14 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was discharged Sunday from a Seoul hospital where he was treated for a stomach virus.

Dr. John Linton of Yonsei Severance Hospital said Kissinger was "in good spirits" after a check-up, an MRI and X-rays found nothing serious, CNN reported.

Kissinger, 86, was admitted to the hospital Saturday after complaining of stomach pain.

Kissinger arrived in Seoul Wednesday for a security forum and met with President Lee Myung-bak Friday.

Kissinger, now chairman of a consulting firm, served as secretary of state in the 1970s under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and shared the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize with Le Duc Tho for negotiating a treaty to end the Vietnam War.

Kissinger underwent triple coronary bypass surgery in 1982 and had an angioplasty five years ago.
