Citizens split over Reagan on $50 bill

WASHINGTON, March 12 (UPI) -- Results of a poll indicate U.S. citizens are split over whether former President Ronald Reagan's image should be on the $50 bill.

The Angus Reid Public Opinion Poll said of 1,007 U.S. adults who responded to its poll on a proposal from Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., to have Reagan on the bill, 41 percent support the idea and 39 percent are opposed.

The remaining 20 percent said they were unsure.

Sixty percent of Republicans and 33 percent of Democrats supported McHenry's proposal.

The online survey was conducted Tuesday and Wednesday. The poll's margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.

Reagan, president from 1981 to 1989, died in 2004.
