WASHINGTON, March 11 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will detail the national export initiative he announced in January at the Export-Import Bank's annual conference Thursday.
During his State of the Union address, Obama set a goal of doubling U.S. exports in the next five years to keep the United States competitive internationally while supporting the creation of 2 million jobs at home, the White House said.
Later Thursday, Obama will have separate meetings to discuss healthcare reform with members of the Black Caucus and members of the Hispanic Caucus.
In a closed-door meeting rescheduled from Monday, Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., will update Obama on their bipartisan effort on immigration reform, the White House said.
The president will meet separately with Secretary of State Clinton and senior advisers in the Oval Office.
In the evening, Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will host a preview screening of HBO's new mini-series, "The Pacific," the story of the Pacific front during World War II.
