Woman admits faking cancer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., March 9 (UPI) -- A former city employee in Chattanooga, Tenn., admitted Tuesday she falsely claimed to have breast cancer to get money and time off.

Keele Maynor faces up to six years in prison when she is sentenced May 17, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

She pleaded guilty to forgery and to eight counts of theft or theft of services.

A judge allowed Maynor to remain free on bail pending sentencing, WRCB-TV reported.

The broadcaster said colleagues donated thousands of dollars and vacation days to Maynor during several years when she was supposedly getting treatment for cancer.
