LANCASTER, Calif., March 9 (UPI) -- Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives said they were looking for two men who stabbed a man after he complained about someone talking in a movie theater.
The attack occurred during a showing of "Shutter Island" at the Cinemark 22 theater in Lancaster, Calif. The victim complained about a woman who was talking on a cellphone during the 9 p.m. show.
The woman and two men left the theater but the men returned in minutes and stabbed the victim in the neck with the sharp end of a meat thermometer, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday. The victim -- whose name was not reported -- was hospitalized with what authorities said were serious injuries, and two other movie patrons who came to his defense were also injured, police said.
The incident occurred two weeks ago but police said Tuesday they were still looking for suspects and appealed to the public for information about the attack.
"It was vicious and cowardly attack," sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
