HOUSTON, March 8 (UPI) -- Two employees at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo were injured when a bucking bull temporarily escaped, rodeo officials say.

The Houston Chronicle said Monday while the bull was eventually recaptured and contained by a wrangler Sunday, the two employees were sent to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

Rodeo officials said the bull made it as far as the rodeo's parking lot due to a gate malfunction.

After the bull escaped, officers attempted to herd the animal away from the public until the bull could be recaptured.

Leroy Shafer, the rodeo's chief operating officer, assured the Chronicle security procedures at the rodeo would be reviewed to avoid any future incidents.
