Suspects sought in deadly student shooting

ATLANTA, March 4 (UPI) -- Police in Atlanta said they are looking for suspects in the fatal shooting of a Georgia State University student in an Atlanta apartment building.

Police said while witnesses saw two men flee the building the night of the shooting, no suspects have been identified or arrested for the killing of 20-year-old college student Maxwell Fiandt, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said Thursday.

Police Maj. Keith Meadows said Fiandt was shot and killed Wednesday night outside his apartment. It appears Fiandt and at least one of the male suspects may have been struggling when the deadly shooting took place.

Meadows said "it looks like the victim had some guests and one of them got overly aggressive."

"We have some information that the victim might have been selling marijuana," the police officer said.

Shane Hammond, a resident of the apartment building where the shooting took place, told the Journal-Constitution the building houses as many as 30 Georgia State students.
