NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. animal rights group PETA says it has backed away from a Florida billboard campaign for neutering pets using Tiger Woods' image.
The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said group officials would not comment on whether the superstar golfer's attorneys threatened to sue after they announced plans to put a Woods billboard in Windermere, Fla., saying, "Too much sex can be a bad thing … for little tigers too. Help keep your cats (and dogs) out of trouble: Always spay or neuter!"
The Norfok, Va.-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said they had put the Woods theme on hold after conversations with Woods' lawyers. The married Woods has been fighting a scandal after it was revealed he had extramarital affairs with more than a dozen women.
Instead, PETA says it plans to use the image of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who got in trouble after it was revealed the married governor had a mistress in Argentina.
