Release of kidnap hoax inmate revoked

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- A 38-year-old Pennsylvania woman imprisoned for conducting a kidnapping hoax will not be released as planned due to bad behavior, her lawyer says.

Attorney Louis Busico, who represents Bonnie Sweeten, said authorities insist his client's inappropriate behavior resulted in her scheduled release from prison Saturday to be revoked, the Bucks County (Pa.) Courier Times reported Thursday.

"Unfortunately, the prison has made a decision that she engaged in a series of minor infractions of department of corrections policies. At the present time, I do not intend to bring the situation to the attention of the court, but I may do so in the future," Busico said.

Sweeten was initially granted release into house arrest by a Bucks County judge because she had been a model prisoner, the Courier Times said.

Sweeten was sentenced to between nine to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges she called authorities last May to report she and her daughter had been abducted during a carjacking.

The mother-daughter pair, the subject of a major manhunt, were later found at a Walt Disney World hotel.
