Terror concerns force landing of flight

LONDON, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A British Airways spokesman said Monday a flight from London to Mexico City was forced to land amid terror concerns about one of the flight's passengers.

The airline spokesman, whose identity was not released, said Flight 243 returned to London's Heathrow Airport after more than two hours after takeoff last Friday as a result of a "data discrepancy" regarding a 55-year-old U.S. citizen on the flight, The Daily Mail reported.

"The BA243 Heathrow to Mexico City flight returned to Heathrow on Friday afternoon due to a data discrepancy with a U.S. citizen," said the spokesman, who did not identify the targeted passenger.

"The aircraft returned to Heathrow and a passenger was asked to leave the aircraft, which he duly did and collected his bags."

Scotland Yard said the male passenger was not arrested after being searched under the Terrorism Act. A Department for Transport spokeswoman confirmed Heathrow security was not breached during the incident.

The British Airways spokesman told the Mail the flight to Mexico City took place Friday night without any additional incidents.
