NEW CASTLE, N.Y., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The cardiologist for Bill Clinton says the former U.S. president should soon be able to resume his normal schedule following a stay at a New York hospital.

Clinton, 63, returned to his home in Chappaqua, N.Y., Friday after undergoing an emergency procedure to open a narrowing artery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Clinton was hospitalized Thursday complaining of tightness in his chest and underwent stent surgery to avoid a possible heart attack in the future, The New York Daily News said.

Doctors said the blockage targeted by the procedure was not the result of Clinton's eating habits.

Four years ago, Clinton was hospitalized at the same New York hospital and underwent a quadruple bypass, the newspaper said.

Upon being released from the hospital Friday, Clinton stopped at a Starbuck's coffee shop in Chappaqua, where one worker said the former president claimed to be in good health.

"Someone asked him how he was feeling, and he said, 'I feel great,'" the worker, whose identity was not released, told the Daily News.
