Six arrested for torture slaying

MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Six people are being held for the torture killing of a Pennsylvania woman whose body was found in a trash can, authorities in Mount Pleasant, Pa., say.

The victim, identified in court papers as Jennifer Daugherty, was beaten and stabbed multiple times before her body was dumped outside Greensburg Salem Middle School, The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Friday.

The six suspects, ranging in age from 17-36, were arraigned on multiple charges including kidnapping, conspiracy and criminal homicide.

Three of the suspects are female and the others are male.

They are being held without bond in the Westmoreland County Prison.

Police did not reveal a motive for the slaying.

Family members told police Daugherty had been missing since she left Mount Pleasant by bus Monday to go to Greensburg.

Her body was not found until Thursday.
