5 GIs wounded in Afghanistan bomb attack

KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber attacked a U.S. military base in eastern Afghanistan Thursday, injuring five American soldiers, an Afghan official said.

CNN reported the bomb went off about 9 p.m. in a "sleeping area" of the base in Paktia province. Provincial spokesman Roullah Samoun said initial information indicated the bomber wore an Afghan border police uniform but it was unclear how he got onto the base, the U.S. news network said.
