Palin's sister-in-law gets plea deal

PALMER, Alaska, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A prosecutor in Palmer, Alaska, says the sister-in-law of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin agreed to a plea deal in a series of burglaries.

Palmer Assistant District Attorney Paul Roetman said Diana Palin and one of her victims, Theodore Turcott, hugged in Palmer Superior Court after Palin, 35, was sentenced to 15 months in prison as part of her plea deal, The Anchorage Daily News said Thursday.

Diana Palin is the half-sister of Sarah Palin's husband, Todd.

Roetman said Diana Palin used her 4-year-old daughter to gain access to homes in order to steal money she could use to feed her drug habit.

The Palmer prosecutor said Palin would gain entry into the home by asking homeowners if her young daughter could use their bathroom.

Roetman said Palin will complete her sentence for burglary and endangering her child at a drug treatment center. She has already served 5 1/2 months in prison, the Daily News reported.
