COMO, Italy, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Acts by an Italian gun shop owner accused of shooting, beheading then burning the victim's head in a pizza oven were "momentary madness," his attorneys said.
Authorities arrested Alberto Arrighi, 40, for allegedly killing Giamcomo Brambilla in the northern city of Como during an argument over a debt of about $138,000 Arrighi owed Brambilla, The Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.
Arrighi reportedly was struggling to repay the money he borrowed from Brambilla, a businessman in the Como area, the British publication said.
Arrighi also is accused of taking Brambilla's body to the Domodossola, near the Italian-Swiss border, and dumping it in the river, officials said.
"The whole thing was an act of momentary madness, the result of some sort of financial dispute between the two men," Arrighi's attorney said.
Brambilla's girlfriend called authorities when he didn't return home after meeting Arrighi Monday, police said.
