Child porn victim fights back

NEW YORK, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- One U.S. victim of child pornography is fighting back by suing viewers for monetary damages, her lawyer says.

James R. Marsh, who represents a young woman named Amy, is going after everyone convicted of possessing "the Misty series" of child pornography that has been circulating on the Internet for more than 10 years, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

Amy was forced by an uncle to appear in the videos when she was a child.

She is demanding that everyone convicted of possessing even a single "Misty" image pay her damages until her total claim of $3.4 million has been met.

This month a judge in Connecticut became the first to arrange payment.

The government notifies Amy under the Crime Victims Rights Act anytime her photos are used in a prosecution.

Marsh has e-mailed Amy's filings to U.S. attorneys in 350 cases.

"I'm able to leverage the power of the Internet to get restitution for a victim of the Internet," Marsh says.
