NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection authorities allege a Guyanese woman was caught trying to smuggle 54 pounds of cocaine through a New York airport.
Authorities allege after finding a bag of marijuana inside of Dorothy Sears's bra on Jan. 12, Customs and Border agents at John F. Kennedy International Airport searched the woman's luggage and located $1.7 million worth of cocaine, the New York Daily News said Tuesday.
An agency spokesman said the marijuana was allegedly discovered during a pat-down search of Sears, who was deemed suspicious by security agents over suspected inconsistencies regarding her visit to New York.
Authorities allege after a K-9 unit analyzed Sears's suitcase, a search of the luggage uncovered tightly wrapped packages of cocaine.
A Customs and Border Protection official told the Daily News authorities are attempting to determine Sears's alleged supplier.
