Shopper allegedly attacks store manager

SANDUSKY, Ohio, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A 61-year-old Ohio man was charged with assault after allegedly punching out a store clerk in an argument over crab cakes, police say.

Perkins, Ohio, police arrested Ralph Barr after he allegedly punched Kroger store manager Monte Erwin, 44, when they argued over the price of the seafood, the Sandusky (Ohio) Register reported Wednesday.

The newspaper said Kroger apparently made a mistake in the price listing, and Erwin's offer to sell the man the first pound at a discounted price but the rest at the correct price allegedly wasn't deemed acceptable by Barr, who allegedly spit in Erwin's face, head-butted him and hit him five or six times in the face.

The Register quoted police reports saying Barr claims the store manager hit him with a price gun, which Erwin claimed he didn't do intentionally.

Witnesses said the manager didn't fight back, the reports said.
