Mich. men to face trial in sex slave case

LAKE ORION, Mich., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Two men in Lake Orion, Mich., will stand trial on charges they used threats of violence to keep a woman as a sex slave for several weeks, a judge said.

The Detroit Free Press said District Judge Julie Nicholson ruled Tuesday Leon Setty and Frank Bennett will face charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly forcing a 52-year-old woman to serve as their personal sex slave.

The female victim, whose identity was not released, alleges the two men threatened to kill her or members of her family if she refused their sexual advances or told anyone of her situation.

The victim alleges she was kept in a home in Lake Orion, Mich., between September and early November by the two suspects.

The woman was rescued after a friend of Setty and Bennett visited the home and refused the men's offer to have sex with the victim for money, authorities allege.

The victim alleges she was hospitalized for an unspecified mental illness after being freed, the Free Press said.

Setty, 54, and Bennett, whose age was not reported, each face as much as 15 years in prison if convicted.
