NEW YORK, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- A New York judge refused to dismiss charges against the Rev. Al Sharpton's ex-wife and daughter stemming from a Halloween argument with a traffic cop.
The ruling Tuesday by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge James Burke means Kathy Jordan and Dominique Sharpton remain on track for a trial on a smattering of charges filed after they got into a noisy verbal dispute with NYPD officers last fall.
The New York Daily News said Wednesday the pair was pulled over in Harlem after Ms. Sharpton allegedly ran a red light. The New York Post described the brouhaha as a "profanity laced shoving match."
The lawyer representing the women told the newspaper it was "unfortunate" Judge Burke turned down the motion to dismiss and they were prepared to go to trial in March.
