PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- A man and his wife are facing criminal charges for allegedly operating a high-end prostitution ring in Pasadena and Irvine, Calif., police say.

Police in Pasadena, Calif., allege Thanh Ly, 35, and Li Chen, 32, operated a prostitution ring that involved 24 women offering services at upscale apartment complexes in the two cities, the Los Angeles Times said Thursday.

Pasadena Police Lt. Tom Pederson alleges the women charged $200 per encounter with their clients.

Pederson said Ly and his wife were arrested on charges of pimping and pandering on Dec. 16 following a two-year investigation into the alleged prostitution ring.

In addition, four unidentified females were arrested on prostitution charges.

"These four ladies are U.S. citizens, between the ages of 20 and 45," Pederson told the Times.

Ly and his wife are awaiting a preliminary trial and are being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
