Iran compiles foreign 'enemies list'

TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Iran has put together a list of 60 groups it considers enemy agents in a "soft war" against the country, local media report.

Citing a report carried by the semi-official Mehr news agency, CNN said Tuesday the Iranian enemies list includes the Open Society Institute in New York headed by U.S. philanthropist George Soros, the Washington non-profit National Endowment for Democracy, the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute.

CNN said such media outlets as the BBC and Voice of America are also included.

Mehr reported Tehran's deputy intelligence minister has urged Iranians to avoid any "unusual relations" with the groups and with foreign embassies and foreign nationals.
