Kilpatrick faces another lawsuit

DETROIT, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- A lawyer representing the family of a slain stripper has asked a judge to order former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to turn over e-mails.

The family of Tamara "Strawberry" Greene accuses Kilpatrick and other city officials of obstructing the investigation into her 2003 killing for political reasons, The Detroit News reported. The homicide remains unsolved.

Norman Yatoona, representing the family in a lawsuit against the city, Kilpatrick and other officials, said in a motion filed Wednesday that he requested e-mails and other records from the ex-mayor Nov. 18.

Yatoona said the mayor was supposed to respond no later than Dec. 16 but has not done so.

Greene is rumored to have been at the mayor's mansion for a party a few months before her death.

Kilpatrick was forced to resign as mayor and served a short prison term for lying in a deposition in a lawsuit brought by two police whistleblowers.
