Postal Service unveils 2010 stamp program

WASHINGTON, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Postal Service said Wednesday its 2010 stamps will feature Mother Teresa and actress Katharine Hepburn.

The Postal Service said in a release it will honor the accomplishments of the late Nobel Peace Prize-winning Catholic nun with a stamp bearing her portrait done by award-winning artist Thomas Blackshear II.

The special Hepburn stamp will feature a photo of the late U.S. actress taken by Clarence S. Bull. The stamp in honor of the star of movies such as "The African Queen" and "Bringing Up Baby" is part of the U.S. Postal Service's Legends of Hollywood series.

Other stamps due out in 2010 include one for the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Canada, and others honoring abstract expressionists and the Lunar New Year.

The Postal Service will also release 10 more stamp designs as part of its Flags of Our Nation series. Other movie stars to be honored include William S. Hart, Tom Mix, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers with "Cowboys of the Silver Screen" stamps.
