'Bedtime Bandits' arrested in California

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Police say they have arrested eight people believed to be the alleged "Bedtime Bandits" suspected in 19 Southern California bank robberies.

The FBI dubbed the team the "Bedtime Bandits" because they used pillowcases with cartoon characters on them to carry out their cash, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said the suspects, from Fontana, Calif., and Los Angeles, were arrested between Dec. 4 and Dec. 17. Two suspects remain at large, the newspaper said.

Some of the suspects are charged with the robberies, while others are charged with aiding in the heists. Several were identified as Los Angeles gang members, the newspaper said.
