Passenger dies after emergency landing

CHARLESTON, S.C., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A JetBlue spokesman said a female passenger who became ill aboard a flight from New York to Orlando, Fla., died despite the flight making an emergency landing.

JetBlue spokesman Sebastian White said Flight 153 made an emergency landing in Charleston, S.C., Saturday due to a medical emergency, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Sunday.

The ailing passenger, whose identity was not released, was taken from the aircraft by emergency crews and admitted to a Charleston hospital.

The woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital, White said.

Airport police did not release details regarding the incident.

JetBlue confirmed the flight, which was carrying nearly 150 people, landed in Orlando late Saturday night.
