Collection is history of Bush presidency

LEWISVILLE, Texas, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A vast collection of items saved for a Texas library honoring George W. Bush reflect the former U.S. president's time in office, the library's registrar said.

Jennifer Schulle, registrar for the George W. Bush Presidential Library, said among the items being stored in a warehouse in Lewisville, Texas, are 175 million e-mails, cowboy boots and even a gift Bush received from the pope, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram said Wednesday.

"I like to think of them as a good time capsule that reveals everything that is going on during his eight years in office," Schulle said.

"You get to see not only things going on politically, but you see things going on in terms of fashion, social customs, culture," she added.

The actual library dedicated to 43rd president of the United States will open in 2013 at Southern Methodist University in University Park, Texas.

Alan Lowe, director of the $300 million library, told the Star-Telegram both Bush and his wife, Laura, have been involved in the library's development.

"The Bushes are very much involved in the library," Lowe said. "President Bush has been here looking through photographs. He has been very engaged with us."
