PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A judge Wednesday agreed to modify the sentence of a Pennsylvania woman who faked her own kidnapping and spirited her daughter off to Disney World.
Bucks County Judge Jeffery Finley said he believed Bonnie Sweeten had become a changed person in her six months in custody and allowed her to serve her remaining time under house arrest.
Sweeten's homecoming won't take place until the end of February, The Philadelphia Inquirer said, and will require her to wear a monitoring device.
Sweeten was sentenced last summer to nine to 24 months on misdemeanor charges of identity theft and making a false report. The charges stem from her flight to Florida with her 9-year-old daughter, prompting a highly publicized search and fears she and her child had been abducted.
