Source: Evidence presented in terror case

NEW YORK, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A source said evidence was presented to a federal grand jury in New York regarding five suspected terrorists, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

The unidentified source said Tuesday while evidence is being presented in the case, it may take several weeks for an indictment to be handed down against Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and his four suspected al-Qaida supporters, The New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

The evidence and testimony in the federal grand jury case is expected to focus on the allegations that Mohammed and his four co-defendants all took part in the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Nearly 3,000 people New York, Washington and Pennsylvania lost their lives in the terror attacks.

Mohammed is currently being held at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba, along with his co-defendants Waleed Bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi and Ali Abd al-Aziz.

The Daily News said all five suspects are expected to be transferred to New York in 2010.
