Blagojevich attorneys' computers stolen

CHICAGO, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A search of a Chicago home failed to turn up computers stolen from lawyers representing former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, police said.

Police confiscated a gun and charged one person with unlawful use of a weapon Saturday, but nothing was found in Thursday's theft from the office of attorneys Sam Adam and Sam Adam Jr., the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday.

A safe and eight laptops were stolen. Four of the laptops were being used in Blagojevich's corruption case, but contained no sensitive information and were password-protected and encrypted, the lawyers said.

Blagojevich is charged with scheming to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by President Barack Obama. The trial is to start in June.

In the meantime, Blagojevich is promoting his book "The Governor" because he has nothing to hide, Sam Adam Jr. told the Chicago Tribune in a story published Sunday.

"If you're not guilty, you don't shy away," Adam Jr. said. "And he's going to take the stand at his trial, and he's going to answer his accusers."
