N.C. mom admits killing son, 5

CONCORD, N.C., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A North Carolina woman has been sentenced to at least 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing her 5-year-old son with an overdose of antihistamine.

Robin Lee, 46, was sentenced in a Concord, N.C., courtroom Thursday after admitting she put a prescription antihistamine in drinks for her two sons, 14-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Philip, WCNC-TV, Charlotte, N.C., reported. She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, felony child abuse, and delivering drugs to a child.

Lee told authorities she wanted to kill herself and wanted her sons to be asleep so they wouldn't find her body. She and Alexander survived the drugs.

The 5-year-old boy's father, Ricky Lee, said he didn't think the prison term was adequate.

"He didn't deserve this, nobody deserves it," said Lee. "I live 10 minutes away from her. She could have dropped him home.

"She didn't get enough time in my opinion, my son's life was worth a lot more than 25 years."
