Mother said Josh Powell threatened her
PHOENIX, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- The former Arizona home of Sen. John McCain, which he and his wife sold in 2006 for $3.2 million, is scheduled for auction on Friday, the auctioneers said.
The 13-bedroom Phoenix estate has two guest houses, a pool, a spa and a seven-car garage on more than 2.1 acres.
The Arizona Republic reported that Jane Popple, the owner, last year tried unsuccessfully to sell the home for $7 million.
In this auction, the home will be sold to the highest bidder above $5.9 million, said John Nuccio, a spokesman for Higgenbotham Auctioneers International, which will be handling the auction.
The home's furnishings, including more than 130 oil paintings and several dozen flat-screen televisions, will be sold separately, the newspaper reported.
The estate was purchased in 1951 by Cindy McCain's parents. John and Cindy McCain and their family lived there for more than 20 years.
The house, which Popple had remodeled, has been appraised at more than $12 million, Higgenbotham said.
