LONDON, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- London is no longer considered one of the world's most expensive cities to shop in due to falling prices in Britain, an annual report has found.
London has dropped to 20th place behind Lisbon, Portugal, in a global study of the retail price of popular consumer goods released by PriceRunner International Friday.
PriceRunner said if the trend continues London could earn a reputation of being one of the cheaper major cities in the world.
The most expensive city, according to the price survey, is Norway's capital of Oslo, followed by Copenhagen in Denmark and Sao Paolo in Brazil.
Paris is fourth on the list with New York near the bottom among the cheapest in the survey of 33 world cities.
"London, New York and Paris are often held up as cities with a high cost of living," said Marc Thomas, PriceRunner's UK manager. "London is now significantly cheaper than many competitive destinations, including Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam and Berlin."
