SEATTLE, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Seattle authorities said they are searching for the individual who took an unauthorized photograph of alleged killer Maurice Clemmons.
The Seattle Police and Fire departments said they want to learn the identity of the individual who took a picture of Clemmons, who allegedly killed four police officers in Lakewood, Wash., after the suspect's death in Seattle, SeattlePI.com reported Thursday.
"The Seattle Police Department, Seattle Fire Department and the King County Medical Examiner's Office have been made aware of an image circulating of deceased suspect Maurice Clemmons," Seattle police said in a statement.
"All three agencies have launched their own internal investigations to determine the origin of the image in question," the police department added regarding the photo, which was shared with the media.
Clemmons, 37, allegedly shot and killed four Lakewood police officers last Sunday at a coffee shop and became the focus of a two-day manhunt in the surrounding area.
SeattlePI.com said the manhunt ended when a Seattle police officer confronted Clemmons early Tuesday. Police maintain Clemmons ignored the officer's orders to stop and the officer fired, killing the suspect.
