OSLO, Norway, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will arrive in Oslo, Norway, Dec. 9 to accept his Nobel Peace Prize, the Norwegian Nobel Institute director said.
Obama plans to travel to Oslo from Copenhagen, Denmark, where he will attend the third day of the U.N.-backed climate change summit, Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported Wednesday.
After receiving his award during a ceremony Dec. 10, Obama will leave Norway Dec. 11, Norwegian Nobel Institute Director Gier Lundestad said.
While details of his trip haven't been finalized, Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, are expected to have an audience at the Royal Palace with King Harald V and Queen Sonja before Obama accepts his prize.
NRK reported Obama also was expected to visit the Norwegian Nobel Institute, conduct a news conference at his hotel, attend a banquet in his honor and stand on balcony of his hotel room to receive greetings from the traditional torch light parade as it passes the hotel.
