Warren disputes Obama's abortion stance

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Pastor Rick Warren, who delivered the invocation at U.S. President Barack Obama's inauguration, says he disagrees with him on abortion.

Speaking Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Warren said he took issue with Obama's position that abortion should be "safe, legal and rare," contending that it leaves unanswered the question of whether life begins at conception.

Referring to the estimated number of abortions performed since the procedure was legalized in the 1970s, Warren said, "I think we've had 46 million Americans who aren't here, those who could be here since Roe vs. Wade who are not voting. And I think that, in a sense, is a holocaust. I really do."

He added, "Now, I don't understand the idea of it should be rare and, and less. Well, either you believe it's life or you don't. Why would you believe it should be rare? Because if it's not -- if a baby, a fetus is not a life, then why restrict it?"
