LOS ANGELES, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will quickly clear up an $80,000 federal lien against him, his spokesman says.
Schwarzenneger spokesman Aaron McLear said Friday the "minor paperwork tracking discrepancy" would be taken care of soon with no penalty assessed on the governor, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The lien, first reported by TMZ.com, showed up in a May 11 county recorder's document indicating Schwarzenegger owes $39,047.20 from 2004 and $40,016.80 from 2005. The document included IRS code suggesting the debt could be penalties for failing to report certain business transactions.
McLear's statement said the governor was presented with the matter Friday. "The issue is completely unrelated to the payment of taxes, which the governor has paid in full and on time," he said.
