SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Two men were charged Friday in a street racing accident in San Jose, Calif., that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman, police said.
The San Jose Mercury News reported Emmanuel Pourmand, 21, and Joseph Anthony Inocencio, 18, are facing charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving for the Oct. 20 accident that killed Alyson Snow.
Police allege in released reports that Inocencio and Pourmand were street racing in a 40-mph area when they lost control and forced Snow's vehicle into a median and tree.
Authorities estimate Inocencio's BMW was traveling at 91 mph and Pourmand's Nissan was traveling at 76 mph when the incident occurred.
Inocencio is facing six years and eight months in prison if convicted, while Pourmand is potentially facing nine years. Pourmand's sentence would be longer than Inocencio's since it was Pourmand's vehicle that struck Snow's car.
The Mercury News said an unidentified friend traveling with Snow in her vehicle suffered a concussion, but has since recovered.
