Arkansas police stun 10-year-old girl

OZARK, Ark., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Ozark, Ark., should not have used a stun gun on a 10-year-old girl, the child's father says.

Anthony Medlock said he's outraged over the alleged use of a Taser weapon by police called to a home by the girl's mother, KBHS/KHOG-TV, Fort Smith and Fayetteville Ark., reported Wednesday.

"I would like to say Ozark police (stunned) this little girl right here," Medlock told the broadcaster. "Ten years old and (they) shot electricity through her body, and I want to know how the heck in God's green earth can they get away with this."

KBHS/KHOG said the police report indicated officer Dustin Bradshaw was called to the home by the mother, witnessed the child kicking and screaming, and was told by her mother, Kelly Hamlert, to use a stun gun on her if necessary.

The report said Bradshaw fired the Taser at the girl after she kicked him in the groin.

"(Bradshaw) had no other choice. He had to get the child under control," said Ozark police Chief Jim Noggle, who added that no action was being taken against Bradshaw and the girl's case would be handled in the juvenile court system.
