COLBY, Kan., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- The Kansas Highway Patrol said an 86-year-old man was hurt when his ox-drawn cart was struck by a tractor-trailer near Colby, Kan.
The Kansas City (Mo.) Star said Saturday that Lon E. Sowers was hospitalized with unspecified injuries after the semi truck collided with his ox cart during an attempted pass this week.

The highway patrol said Sowers attempted to make a left turn just as the truck was attempting to pass his cart on the left Thursday.
The patrol told the Star the collision also left Sowers' oxen slightly injured, but the animals appeared fine in the wake of the incident.
No injuries to the unidentified driver of the tractor-trailer were reported.
