COLLEGE PARK, Md., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Residents of many countries around the world distrust both China and the United States on global warming, a poll released Wednesday said.

The survey by WorldPublicOpinion.org found the United States gets much higher marks than China on human rights. While 52 percent say China has no respect for human rights and 36 percent say it does, 50 percent believe the U.S. government respects human rights and 38 percent say it does not.

A total of 20,349 people were interviewed in 20 countries: China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia, Mexico, Chile, Germany, Great Britain, France, Poland, Ukraine, Kenya, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and South Korea, along with Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

Among them, the countries include 63 percent of global population.

In France, Britain, Germany, the United States and Egypt, clear majorities disagree with China's handling of climate change. Only Nigeria, Kenya, Indonesia and Pakistan, where 93 percent say China is doing well on climate change, approve.

Majorities in Egypt, Britain, France, Pakistan, Turkey and Germany disapprove of U.S. handling of climate change. Nigeria, Kenya, South Korea, India and Indonesia are the only countries where majorities approve of the U.S. handling of the issue.
