SACRAMENTO, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Horizontal Airlines officials said a Tuesday plane bound from Fresno, Calif., to Seattle was diverted in Sacramento, Calif., due to engine troubles.

Sacramento International Airport spokeswoman Gina Swankie said Flight 830 landed safely at about 8:30 a.m. with the airport's fire crew present as a precaution, the Sacramento (Calif.) Bee reported Tuesday.

Horizon spokeswoman Jen Boyer said the crew of the 70-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 jet reported a problem with the left engine about 40 minutes after the 7:20 a.m. takeoff from Fresno and decided to shut it down.

"The plane can be landed safely with one engine, because not as much power is needed," Boyer said.

Boyer said the passengers were being accommodated in Sacramento with flights to Seattle.
