EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Police in Illinois said Sunday they were looking for a man in connection with the shooting death of three women in a car as the victims' children looked on.
Police said Tanikia Harvey, 26; Jaimaca McDaniel, 24; and Raykel Gathing, 26 -- all of East St. Louis, Ill., were pronounced dead at Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital, six blocks from the grocery store parking lot where they were shot at around 9 p.m. CST Saturday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. None of the three children -- who ranged in age from 1 to 8 -- were wounded in the assault, police said.
East St. Louis Police Detective Kenneth Berry told reporters Sunday investigators were looking for a man who left the scene in a white 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis. They said the man they are looking knows the victims.
Berry said police arrested another man Saturday, described as "a person of interest," who also knows the victims, the newspaper said.
McDaniel was the mother of two of the children and Harvey was the mother of the third, police said.
Berry said investigators were looking at video taken by a store surveillance cameras, the Post-Dispatch reported.
