FORT HOOD, Texas, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, accused of slaying 13 people at Fort Hood, once said that infidels should be killed, The Daily Telegraph reported Sunday.

Unnamed doctors who attended a lecture at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, where Hasan worked as a psychiatrist for six years before arriving at Fort Hood this year, told the newspaper that he called for non-believers to be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats.

Medical colleagues told the newspaper they had expected a discussion on a medical issue from Hasan but were instead subjected to an extremist interpretation of the Koran, which they said Hasan appeared to believe.

The newspaper said Walter Reed doctors have been recalling how their colleague repeatedly harangued them about religion and openly declared himself to be a "Muslim first and American second."

Dr. Val Finnell, who says he took a course with Hasan at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, told the Telegraph he complained about his "anti-American rants. The system is not doing what it's supposed to do. He at least should have been confronted about these beliefs, told to cease and desist, and to shape up or ship out."
