NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A New Jersey woman has filed a lawsuit against New York police, alleging a horse in its mounted unit bit her, leaving permanent injuries, court records show.

Mr. Biggs, the horse, severely injured Dineen Rudd of Fair Lawn, N.J., when it bit her arm outside a New York City restaurant last summer, the New York Post reported Sunday.

Rudd's suit said the city should have been aware of the horse's "propensity to attack and bite human beings," court documents said.

A Law Department spokeswoman said the city has not yet received the legal papers in the case.
